Protect all your devices with 30% off in the Kaspersky Lab UK sale

Image
We only know two things about Kaspersky Lab. We know that the service it offers provides protection for all your devices, including your PC, Mac, and Android phone and tablet. We also know that from time to time, Kaspersky Lab drops its prices across the board, and now is one of those times. You can secure Kaspersky Anti Virus , Kaspersky Internet Security , or Kaspersky Total Security at 30% less than list price. This deal isn't around for long, and you'll have to pounce before Feb. 7 to avoid missing out. Kaspersky Lab services protect all of your devices, with just one license to buy. Every device you use can theoretically compromise your security, so Kaspersky Lab covers everything. It also locks, wipes, and locates your devices if they’re lost or stolen. This protection doesn't come at the detriment of your device's performance either; Kaspersky's protection technologies work behind the scenes, meaning performance should not be negatively affected. Apple's 2020 iPhone will have a more powerful 3D camera, report says

Image
Apple may be doubling down on its 3D camera tech.  A new report from Bloomberg , citing people familiar with Apple's plans, claims the company plans to launch iPhones with a more powerful, laser-based 3D camera as soon as 2020.  SEE ALSO: Apple to fully switch to OLED iPhones in 2020, report claims According to the report, this won't be just a small upgrade to the iPhone's current 3D camera, which powers the company's Face ID tech. The new, laser-based camera (in contrast to the dot-projection tech Apple is using now) will work "up to about 15 feet" from the iPhone, which means it'll be about more than just facial recognition.  Read more... Every ‘90s kid will want this adorable ink-less note printer that's on sale

Image
The golden age of physical notes and snail mail is long gone. Handwritten notes have been replaced by the infamous Notes app . Productivity software has superseded to-do lists and shopping lists. Emails have kicked snail mail to the curb. And the paper fortune teller you loved making in high school that your teacher kept confiscating? Those have been substituted with endless online quizzes. The only people exchanging letters are Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky , and even they are fictional. This is, without doubt, a shame. Physical notes still carry a certain allure. And now that telegrams are obsolete, there is no easy way to send sweet nothings to the people you care about on the fly without resorting to electronic messaging. Read more... Selling fake followers and likes can land you in trouble with the law

Image
Fake followers, fake likes: they've flooded social media in the past few years. While companies have taken action against fraud accounts , in New York, selling bots and fraudulent social media activity now could land you in hot water. In fact, it's against the law. SEE ALSO: Despite 'transparency' claims, Facebook stops watchdogs from monitoring ads New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Wednesday it had settled with U.S. company Devumi, which had been under investigation following a New York Times exposΓ© which revealed its shady social media practices. The fake followers, likes, & views that Devumi sold came from bot & sock-puppet accounts. Made a typo? Google Chrome tests warning for lookalike URLs

Image
Google Chrome has another solution to help users turn back from dodgy websites. As spotted by ZDNet , it's testing a way to spot lookalike URLs and help redirect users to go to the right place with the Chrome Canary browser, which is used to experiment with upcoming features. SEE ALSO: Google built a digital Etch-A-Sketch that's just as hard to use as the real thing You can switch on the experimental feature in Canary by entering chrome://flags/#enable-lookalike-url-navigation-suggestions in the address bar, and enabling it.  From there, a dropdown will appear below the address bar if you've entered or clicked through to a lookalike URL, with a link to the correct version.  Read more... Facebook doesn't want to talk about how many people use its app anymore

Image
Facebook's main app has more than 2.3 billion users. We know this because, each quarter, the company reports its user growth, alongside its business updates.  These metrics are a key signal to investors and others about how the company is doing and how quickly it's growing. But that could soon change. Facebook announced during its quarterly earnings call that it will begin phasing out these metrics for its main app, instead opting to disclose numbers for its "family" of apps, which includes Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. SEE ALSO: Mark Zuckerberg explains why he wants to merge Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram Read more... More Tesla vehicles are on the way — in 2020, probably

Image
We last heard about the Model Y crossover mid-size SUV car last year and it sounded like it was going to be revealed sooner rather than later. Well in true Musk fashion, it's looking like later. But not too much later.  SEE ALSO: Elon Musk teases 'Model Y,' says it's coming in a few years During Wednesday's fourth-quarter earnings call , Musk shared more about the newest electric car to complement the Model S, X, and 3 cars. He said it should be here by the end of 2020. The Y is apparently completed, designed out, and shares 75 percent of its build and design with the Model 3, so it should be easier to ramp up, Musk said. Read more... Sorry, that $35,000 Tesla Model 3 isn't coming anytime soon

Image
Elon Musk knows you want Tesla's Model 3, but it's just too expensive. Tesla was able to sell nearly 140,000 Model 3s last year — and it hopes to make 7,000 of the sedans per week by the end of 2019. But don't expect to see the price drop by much.  Right now, the problem isn't ramping up Model 3 production, but getting the price down. Years ago, Tesla promised a $35,000 base model. Previously Musk said the cheaper model would get here around April or May , but that now seems unlikely. During Wednesday's fourth-quarter earnings call , Musk sounded content with the current price of $45,000 ( and that's with a smaller battery ). Read more... Mark Zuckerberg explains why he wants to merge Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram

Image
The separation between Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram is about to get even blurrier. Speaking during the company's quarterly earnings call, Zuckerberg confirmed that Facebook wants to make it easier to send messages across its apps, but cautioned that it would be a "a 2020 thing or beyond."  "We're really early in thinking through this. There's a lot more we need to figure out before we finalize the plan," Zuckerberg said. Still, the CEO offered an explanation of why the company wants to merge the apps' underlying infrastructure. Government website outages prevent comments on sexual assault Title IX rule changes
